Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport

Violeta Bulc is the EU Commissioner for Transport, having been appointed to the office in November 2014. She studied computer science and informatics at the University of Ljubljana. She then obtained a master’s of science in information technology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. She worked in Silicon Valley for four years before moving back to Slovenia in 1994, after it became an independent country. Ms Bulc founded her own telecoms firm called Telemach. From 2000 to 2014 she was the CEO of Vibacom, a firm focused on balanced sustainable development strategies, organic growth and innovation of ecosystems. Immediately prior to her appointment to the European Commission, she was the Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia, with ministerial responsibility for development, strategic projects and cohesion.
